  • [My Review] Oh So Amazing Jasmin & Henna Fluff-Eaze

People close to me can testify my love to Lush products. I find their products being either loved or hated mainly because of its strong scent. I, of course, am for Lush and therefore have tried different range of its products and became a long time patron.

Today, I’d like to share my experience with Lush’s hair treatment product, Jasmin & Henna Fluff-Eaze.

Recently, my hair had become noticeably damaged due to the daily blow-drying and the wrong decision of coloring it a few months ago. My hair was impossible to untangle after every wash so I almost chop my shoulder length hair to a boy-cut.

But thank god, I found Jasmin & Henna Fluff-Eaze before I did that!

This hair treatment contains goodness of almond oil, olive oil, brazil nuts and scented with Jasmin. When I bought it though, I was slightly hesitant because the instruction said that for a shoulder length you need to use half of whats in it (full container is 220g) and i found it quite pricy if I used it all up in two uses (AU$25.95). But anyway I was that desperate, so I bought it.

I have quite thin hair so I decided to just used about 50g each time and only on the end of the hair. I left it on for around 40 mins and washed it off.

    So how was it?

The hair felt deeply moisturised and maybe slightly oily so I was glad that I didn’t put the treatment all the way to the roots. But my hair was a lot easier to de-tangle after and with that alone I was already quite happy with the result.

But the best part was the scent that it left on my hair. It seriously lasted about a week even with the daily shampooing.

So my verdict is 4.5 out of 5 and I have a feeling this will be another product I will visit Lush for.

  • [Opinion] Physical attractiveness and careers

Yesterday on my bus ride to work, I read a short but interesting article about Physical attractiveness and careers. A study conducted recently was aimed to find out if there was a relationship between physical attractiveness and a likelihood of getting an interview for a job. Funny enough, the researchers found that including a photo with CV for attractive males would increase the chance of getting a call for an interview, while it worked the opposite for attractive females. The theory is simple. Because HR offices are mostly operated by [jealous] women!

I have worked with attractive people in my career and I suspect that some had managed to secure the position with their looks. I think it’s fine if you are in a certain industry where you actually need to look good to do your job but otherwise that is as far as the physical attractiveness would take you (or I might just be naive to think this).

Don’t get me wrong though, I own this blog believing that all girls should always look after themselves regardless of how hectic their lives get. But I also believe that favoritism and unjust should not happen in a professional environment.

Unfortunately though we know this world we living in is a slightly unjust place. Hence I think we girls should always keep ourselves presentable for any situations we will face and once the opportunity lands on our lap, shine with our skills and knowleges.

Speaking of looks and success, I remembered this funny quote by Alex from Modern Family..

    Here you go.

  • [Opinion] Parisian girls

    eiffel tower

During my last Christmas holiday in Paris, I realised a few quite distinctive styles of Parisian girls.

    1. Red lip colour - It seemed to me that Parisian girls had a lot less make up on their faces except on the lips. It almost looked like they were barely using moisturisers but the bright red lip colours were lightening their complexion up.

    red lipstic

    2. Untied hair - Maybe because it was winter when I visited, but most of girls on the street had their hair down on their shoulders. A lot of them were curly and not overly long creating a really natural look.

    3. Short nails - Most of girls I met smoked. I don’t like the smell of it personally but when I see a cigarette being placed between nicely groomed fingers, I thought it somehow matched well with their natural look.

When I come to think of it, girls on the street looked rather plain than how I had imagined Parisian girls would look. But unlike other cities, I could not find anyone on streets of Paris that were outstandingly awful in their clothing senses either. This was because when I looked at each of them closely, I could see that things were nicely coordinated in using accessories, shoes, stockings and scarfs etc. Is this a skill that runs through their genes? Maybe…

  • [Opinion] Guys look sexy when..

So I have read a few girly articles about ‘guys look sexy when…’. I think this is a very subjective matter but I’d like to share some common opinions with my own thoughts.

    1. When he wears a suit with a slim tie - many girls fantasize on guys with uniforms. If your man doesn’t usually wear a suit, I think you would enjoy the rare occasions thoroughly. When you see your man with a loosened tie after a stressful day, you’d just want to give him a nice accommodating hug.Barney

    (“suit up” - Barney Stinson)

    2. When he doesn’t shy away expressing how he feels about you - once upon a time, I had a rather shameless boyfriend who would just express away his feelings regardless of the surroundings. When he shouted out ‘I love you’ on a busy street (although he got dared) I found him immature and embarrassing. Now that I am a little older and less fun (well..a little less), I find these bold personalities refreshing. Surprisingly, it seems many girls agree with me.

    confession

    3. When he shows his capabilities you didn’t know about - this can be anything. For me I like seeing my man speaking a language that I don’t speak or showing me how to do html coding (this actually was the first time I felt something for my boyfriend) - yes we are a geek couple!

    4. When you realise how big he is compared to you - physical attraction is a big deal. When I see how big my boyfriend’s shoulder and arms are compare to mine, I feel fragile and girly. I absolutely love when he gives me a warm hug and I fit in nicely into his chest.

    5. When he cooks something nice for you - Having a French boyfriend, my taste buds have been spoiled. Once I was very sick with a flu, he came all the way down to my place and made nice warm carbonara pasta. This was a truly nice experience and I still mention to him from time to time how nice he was then (as in why don’t you do it more often these days?!). Note, cooking something nice doesn’t include bbq.

    guys cook

Now that I list above, I realise how easy us girls are to impress (or not?!). Although we also know if it is a genuine gesture or is a trying-too-hard but hey, if your man still tries, you are in good hands.
